It was once common for breweries to stamp a six pointed star on their barrels to represent the purity of the product inside. Each point represented the essential elements of beer: water, yeast, barley, hops, malt and the brewer themselves.
Six Point Brewery is located in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY, where the six-pointed nautical star is found carved or printed on historic buildings due to its maritime history; the brewery itself is a block from several piers.
This is one of the best IPAs that I have ever had. To begin, the colour is a nice amber, with a faint but delicious nose. The taste is creamy and fresh with a lovely hint of apricot and honey. As in any true IPA, this fruitiness is balanced with a lot of hoppy bitterness, but unlike a lot of American kick-ass IPAs, the Bengal Tiger is not harsh!--just a perfect simple bitterness.
