Slurry Bomber Stout

My final tasting from Glacier Brewing was their award winning stout beer. This one was quite a departure from the other two beers I had completed. The aroma was a very nice combination of scents including roasted malts, a little coffee and some slight chocolate under tones. There was no hop bitterness apparent but a mild yeast and hop sweetness came out while I was drinking the beer. As with any traditional stout, the roasted aromas become more prevelant as the beer warms.
Slurry Bomber's appearance is a deep brown almost black in color with no haze or cloudiness that can be seen. There is a very thin frothy tan head which dissipates quickly and does not lace the glass as the beer is consumed. A moderate carbonation is visible in the glass when you hold it to the light.
The flavor is what made this an excellent Stout, with a combination of the bittersweet of a good cup of coffee mixed with roasted malt followed by a mild aftertaste of dark or bittersweet chocolate. There are no real flavors from the yeast or hops present in the taste of this Stout.
The mouthfeel is very smooth and creamy in texture and it coats the palate with a strong coffee like film and flavor. Light and refreshing with very little carbonation but moderately bodied. Coats the palate and lingers in your mouth with a wonderful rich flavor.
Overall, this is a great Stout. Everything about this beer says traditional Stout, the color, the flavor and aroma all make this one very drinkable beer.
