Speights Gold Medal Ale: enjoy in a blackout
Good crisp flavour and the type of beer you can drink all night without feeling sick of the taste. The alcohol content, however, offers no guarantees.
This beer is most popular with those involved in rugby circles in New Zealand, as well as among the scarfies of Otago University. Rumour has it, most university-age pregancies in Otago are a direct result of this brewery.
It is still not available in most parts of the world, although it should be in place of New Zealand's other mainstream 'donkey piss-like' beer: Steinlager.
If you are fortunate enough to stumble across a pint of Speights, enjoy it whilst imagining the Southern Alps of New Zealand, sheep roaming about and the brutality of a rugby game not far away.
For a priceless memory, enjoy Speights Gold Medal Ale in the terraces of Carisbrook in Dunedin during a 'Blackout'. Good on ya, Mate.
