Well, the name pretty much says it all. McAuslan is one of the oldest and biggest microbreweries in Quebec. They've been around for about 20 years, which is old by Canadian micro brewery standards.
St Ambroise Oatmeal Stout is a full-bodied black beer (not even dark, plain ol' BLACK). The head is a beautiful chocolate colour, something that will easily differentiate its appearance from its rich cousin, Guinness.
On the nose, it has some expected hints of cereal. In the mouth, a creamy and complex combination of flavours (including the oatmeal). Following is the usual bitter aftertaste that we associate with stouts.
This is my personal favourite amongst stouts (sorry Guinness), especially if you can find it on tap. It's not for the faint-of-heart, like most stouts, but if you're looking for a nice sandwich-in-a-glass I'd give this Oatmeal Stout a try.
You're better off getting two, of course, one for each hand. People are better balanced that way. Cheers!
