St Ambroise Pumpkin Ale from McAuslan of Montreal: delicious!

St Ambroise Pumpkin Ale from McAuslan of Montreal: delicious!

St Ambroise Pumpkin Ale (5% ABV)
McAuslan, Montreal, QC, Canada

My first pumpkin ale experience!

Deep orange pour, fizzy, little head. A lovely, inviting, slightly sweet perfume, with hints of spice and pumpkin.

Delicious! A really unusual beer, with a fairly benign initial taste, bitter-sweet and beautifully balanced, traces of cinnamon, nutmeg and clove, but nowhere near as heavily spiced as some Christmas beer is.

A little on the gassy side, but honestly I would recommend this beer to anybody a little adventurous. Wonderful. My favourite McAuslan beer so far!

Revisiting a year later
by: Ashley Cotter-Cairns

Just coming back to this beer a year after I reviewed it.

Don't drink it too cold. Let it sit and warm through for a little while -- the pumpkin flavors come out much more!
