The Beerhouse. Oh come on, YOU do better
The Beerhouse in Boise, Idaho is probably one of the smallest and diviest bars around, but it is my favorite, mostly due to the momories I've made there.
It is located in a residential area. I beleive it is there due to a grandfather clause, since bars aren't supposed to be in residential areas like that. It is small and smokey inside, even when the door is propped open. It has one pool table.
I usually sat outside on their patio, however. There were potted plants and flowers around, giving it a homey backyard feel. They had a horseshoe pit outside.
It's the kind of place where you always see the same bartenders and you get to know them... a place where everybody knows your name, if you will. My husband and I lived just down the street from The Beerhouse, so naturally it was an obvious choice when we wanted to go out for some drinks.
My mom also lived nearby so she met us there often. We had a lot of conversations on that patio, my husband and I drinking beer, my mom drinking her champagne.
Aside from beer, champagne and vodka tonics, I never drank anything else there, so I'm not sure about the variety of their beverages. No food is served at The Beerhouse, but they do have the usual bags of chips and other such snacks.
I no longer live close to the Beerhouse, so I haven't been there in years. Besides, we have a baby now, so our days of visiting bars are pretty much over. I look back on those days fondly.
