A 16th-century canal-side pub that has tons of character, reasonable food and good beer, you're really visiting for the location and age of this popular weekend lunch spot.
During my visit they had Well's Bombardier and Well's IPA on. Both tasted well-kept; the Bombardier was an eye-opening experience and so much better than its bottled equivalent, but the IPA didn't change my view of it much. Shame this is a pub most people have to drive to, as there is little local residential housing.
The food was okay, nothing special, well priced and arrived promptly despite the busy Sunday crowd. About average for pub food.
If you come on a day with nice weather, get there early and bag a seat outside. It's worth it. A very pretty pub.
