Thanks to Douglas Gloag for heroically carrying this lovely-looking can all the way to Canada from Yamagata province!
A nicely balanced porter that pours jet black with a small head. Strong smell of burnt treacle and licorice. Quite gassy.
Not much in the way of coffee here -- it's bittersweet, molasses and licorice with a burned caramel and bitter hop finish.
A superb beer, probably the best Japanese beer I've had so far.
