This particular lager is possibly the
most widespread you
can encounter throughout NSW.
It is the kind of beer that 'beer drinkers' will be passionate about - both for and against. But with little reason. I know it to be another reason to brew beer at home.
Tooheys New beer
It's in every single pub I've been into within NSW and shouldn't form the basis of your pub-choice decision.
It is a beer with a bitter taste and one of the few commercial brews that give me savage reflux after drinking down exactly three schooners.
This is a 'standard' beer. The kind you probably wouldn't complain about too much if it was being offered at a work function and maybe at someone's house.
Despite the negativity, Tooheys New beer does have a pleasant aroma upon opening the bottle and pouring, as swell as a slightly sweet flavour upon drinking.
It is downhill from there, however, as it goes flat awfully fast and has a stale aftertaste.
Being the beer that it is, there are many better beers than this, yet just as many that aren't as good.
Probably not one you should go out of your way to get a taste of.
