One of my favourite brewers puts out a smoked beer. I have never tried a rauchbier before, so I was keen to crack this open.
It pours very dark with a small head. You can definitely smell the smoke in this beer, though it's not as pronounced as I expected. Continues below
Maybe I was expecting too much. I find this beer doesn't go far enough. Probably if it did I would be moaning about it tasting TOO smoky: there's no pleasing some people!
I just find it a bit too much like a regular stout with a hint of smoke added to be extraordinary.
