This is one very good beer, from the arch-enemy type monologish narrative on the label to the last bit of film clinging to the glass as you finish the beer. WTF is one of those beers that will be missed when it is gone, so I plan on grabbing a few for the perverbial bomb shelter.
The aroma is strong with hops and with moderate dark malt overtones. There is a mild earthy aroma apparent which increases as the beer warms in the glass. There is also a hint of mild citrus which is a refreshing aroma and plays off of the hops.
WTF ia a very clear and deep brown in color with an overly frothy cream colored head. The foam lingers for the entire time of consumption and laces the glass while the beer is consumed. There is moderate carbonation visible in the movement of the bubbles and kind of adds to the foam on top by creating crevaces and peaks.
The flavor is overflowing with hops which stays on the palate for an extended period of time and are still pparent when you take the next sip. The bitterness from the hops is very refreshing and the malt taste present is more of an aftertaste with the aforementioned citrus. All of the flavors seem to be equally balanced with this beer, even though it claims 64.2 I.B.U.s.
There is a smooth texture to WTF which coats the palate with hops. Very refreshing and moderate carbonation. WTF goes down easy and coats the palate with hops and the lightest film of malt.
This is an excellent beer. This is an outstanding Brown Ale, and I would drink it even in a time of no jobless recovery.
