Yuengling Lager is perhaps the most refreshing part of living in central Pennsylvania. This delightful brew is a staple of Pennsylvania culture and graces nearly every social gathering in the region.

Unfortunately for those Pennsylvanians who find themselves far from home, the beer is only available locally, although in recent years it has spread to all of the bordering states, and has followed the retiree migration to Florida. We can only hope that this trend will continue so that one day we can all enjoy a pint of Yeungling together.

The Yeungling brewery is touted as America's oldest continually operating brewery, being founded in 1829 and managing to creatively survive Prohibition. It is brewed in Pottsville, PA (a satellite brewery has also been opened in Tamp, FL to meet the demand in that market) and the company actually makes seven different brews, including an Ale and a Porter, all of which range in ABV from 4.4% to 5.4%.

However, their Lager is by far the most popular, and at a bar in Pennsylvania one need only ask for "a Lager" and rightfully expect to receive a glass of Yeungling's delicious brew.

To Rich who ripped Sean..
by: E

For a Lager, this beer is among the best. BUT...Lager's in general are indeed garbage. And if Sean WERE to move out to the west coast, he'd have many more beers available..all of which kick the shit out of Yuengling. You should only be so lucky...

Coors
by: Anonymous

I still prefer regular Coors (not Coors Light) as my go-to beer. It's just very difficult to find in S. FL. No bar carries it.

Not drunk
by: Anonymous

I do like the taste of this beer and is very affordable. However, it doesn't make me drunk. I'm not talking about drinking just to get drunk, but it feels like there is no alcohol at all. I recently drank a 12 pack during 1 football party (before and after) and didn't even feel buzzed. Given, I was eating as well, but I want to feel a little buzz at least.

Please Yuengling, distribute to the west coast!
by: la_lady

I'm originally from Pennsylvania, but I moved to Los Angeles about 9 years ago. Yuengling is definitely my beer of choice. Before all of the airline restrictions, I used to bring back a case in my carry-on when I would go home to visit. Now I have to go on a Yuengling bender every time I'm in PA! So, I'm sending out a plea to D.G. Yuengling & Sons - SAVE MY LIVER! Start shipping Yuengling to California!

Great Beer
by: JT

I am from Canada and we can't buy Yeungling up here. I've had beers from all over the world and enjoy a easy dirinking, flavourful beer without being heavy...and this beer certainly hits all the right notes. I am generally not the biggest fan of American beers but this is my new favorite.

I will definately pick up a few cases next time I am in the States.

Non Beleiver
by: Rich

To SEAN who posted the comment as Yuengling Lager being a garbage beer. You're a pussy when it comes to beer drinking. You're the only person I've heard that doesn't like this beer. Get a real life and quit knocking down a good beer and other people who like the taste of it. Why don't you move to the west coast where you won't be able to purchase it let alone drink it.

Simple and wonderful
by: Cindy

I am in SC and we do have Yuengling here but I went to Las Vegas last week and they did not have it. It is sad that America's Oldest brew cannot be had in the west.
By the way none of the beers in the west could compare with the east side of the US. Really shocking.

take it for what it is
by: Anonymous

My dad is originally from Pennsylvania and I went to school near Philadelphia, so this beer has always been present in my life. I usually prefer something with a little more flavor and body to it, but I still enjoy it nonetheless.
Yuengling is by no means amazing, but if you take it at face value- a good, simple, light-to-medium-bodied lager at a decent price- you'll definitely appreciate it. This beer is perfect for those hot North Florida summer afternoons.

Yuengling is the standard
by: Anonymous

Quit gettin all hot headed about your booze, kick back on the boat crack a yuengling by some visceral method and enjoy a mans lager. Its also enjoyable by a fireplace, the bed of a chevy, or an oak beamed barn. Try it out.

Anyone who uses the word "connuisseur" to describe themselves as a fan on beer can't be taken seriously. You sound like a pseudo-intellectual deuchebag who enjoys fine wine but would buy Carlo rossi if it were only more expensive. Take your whinyness elsewhere.

Decent beer
by: Anonymous

Not the best nor the worst beer in the Tri-State area. Way better then Bud-Coors but nowhere as good as higher class beer. I'd love to try on tap though there Black and Tan to see how that taste since its pretty decent in the bottle.

Sean's a Moron
by: Matt

I'm pretty sure that most people wouldn't even try to make the case that Yuengling is the best lager available but it's got a great taste at a good price and I think THAT is the best thing about Yuengling. If you want something that tastes great and you want to fork out big bucks while you're out with the friends then by all means get whatever other beer you wish and pay more to get drunk. But if you want something great while you're out with friends that won't break the bank and still tastes great, Yuengling is the best. (I'm sure that one of the reasons Sean doesn't enjoy Yuengling is because he doesn't ever drink at bars with real people, just sits alone at home)

Yuengling is garbage
by: sean

Anyone who considers yuengling a "good" lager is obviously an uneducated and inexperienced beer drinker. Any connoiseur would agree thet as far as lagers go yuengling is way down at the bottom of the list. The fact that people attribute the word lager to yuengling in Pennsylvania shames me to be a pennsylvanian because there are many great microbrews in the state and the surrounding area that produce quality lagers. To think, I thought this was a website for real beer drinkers. shame on you Paul, you're a fake.

A joke of a beer back in the day, yet now many people drink it. A modern day Emporers New Clothes.
