Yuengling Lager is perhaps the most refreshing part of living in central Pennsylvania. This delightful brew is a staple of Pennsylvania culture and graces nearly every social gathering in the region.
Unfortunately for those Pennsylvanians who find themselves far from home, the beer is only available locally, although in recent years it has spread to all of the bordering states, and has followed the retiree migration to Florida. We can only hope that this trend will continue so that one day we can all enjoy a pint of Yeungling together.
The Yeungling brewery is touted as America's oldest continually operating brewery, being founded in 1829 and
managing to creatively survive Prohibition. It is brewed in Pottsville, PA (a satellite brewery has also been opened in Tamp, FL to meet the demand in that market) and the company actually makes seven different brews, including an Ale and a Porter, all of which range in ABV from 4.4% to 5.4%.
However, their Lager is by far the most popular, and at a bar in Pennsylvania
one need only ask for "a Lager" and rightfully expect to receive a glass of Yeungling's delicious brew.
